Extending a good momentum

Extending a good momentum
Real took another step to secure the second spot in the Spanish championship after beating Joventut at home.

The Whites were focused since the beginning, securing a good advantage by mid first quarter (20-11, min. 6). Joventut responded after some substitutions but Real was inspired in offense and closed the first 10 minutes with a 6 point margin, 29-23.

The locals, with a good defense, led by 13 points early in the second period, but Joventut came back and managed to tie the game (42-42) following a 0-10 run for the visitors. After an exchange of baskets the teams went to the locker rooms with Real leading 47-46.

Resuming the game it was Hanga’s time: three 3 pointers opened a new gap for Laso’s men, again on a good dynamic; but Ante Tomic, the visitors’ best man (25 points) kept lifting his team and the green and blacks survived the third quarter.

It was again Tomic who led Joventut’s 5-14 run in the last 10 minutes, tying the game (83-83, min 35), but a stunning 10-0 run for Real within the next 2 minutes ended the visitors’ resilience.

Good win for Real Madrid, 99-89, against a very tough team.
