Durant and the US put an end to Spain's Olympic journey
Spain and the US played a very tight first quarter, playing at Kevin Durant's beat: when the forward was able to overcome Claver's great defense the US was able to take off (10-17, min. 7) thanks to Brooklyn's player 7 consecutive points. Spain was going to come back mostly thanks to Ricky (13 points in the first quarter) and Llull who was scoring an impossible baseline shot for Spain's first advantage of the game (21-19, min 10).

Spain's second quarter beginning was nearly perfect with great team work again, and Scariolo's squad got a max 10 point advantage after a basket from Willy (39-29, min 17). But Durant would newly make his appearance leading US Team's game and by halftime the score was tied (43-43, min. 20).

The United States came very focused off the locker room, with a much tighter defense and great offensive accuracy for recording a 6-22 run (49-65, min 26). Spain would come back from Garuba, Sergio Rodríguez and Ricky Rubio's hand and finish the 3rd quarter only 6 points behind at the scoreboard (63-69, min 30).

But Popovich's squad has infinite resources and they had learnd second quarter's lesson. Despite's Garuba opening the last 10 minutes with a layup, Lillard and Tatum combined for 12 points and the US Team opened a gap that proved to be decisive (66-81, min 34).

There was an exchange of baskets from them on and even though Spain was able to reduce US's advantage to +8 during the period the Americans were always able to find ways to score and finished the game with one of their biggest advantages, 81-95.

Spain's course at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics finishes against possibly the best team of the competition.
