Real Madrid was off to a good start in Burgos in the first quarter until the locals chained a very good run (13-0) and overturned the scoreboard. Even though the Whites were as well better in the second quarter, the locals, thanks to McFadden, managed to get to halftime only 5 points behind (29-34).
Coming off the locker room Laso's men were much better than Peñarroya's men and a 0-9 run was giving them a good lead for finishing the third quarter 41-56 ahead.
